1. Update on Consulta and Tracks
Rishi: Fri meetings are going well. We'll have a video and audio introduction to the Consulta (hereafter, "C") that will be recorded with NPC, DLOC, and maybe International folks at a meeting in Quebec. Translating materials into different languages. Outreach is hustling to get C form out. PMA folks are figuring out their process more. The big realization is that at every stage, we've overestimated what people think about the C and what that process is. We've put a lot of energy into explaining what it is, but there is still not a shared understanding with NPC and WGs of what the C process is. There is concern about the form from Detroit and other rumblings, so we have concerns about moving forward with it given our timeline. We suggest a convo at the NPC where we can re-visit the C with NPC in person. The meeting is one week after when the C launches, so we would delay the Consulta one more week to get on the same page.
Raquel: There is confusion about 1) the C process and what that means, especially, for feedback on the actual tracks, and 2) confusion about the tracks themselves. Our sense was for general categories as opposed to long paragraphs or lists of tracks. Feedback/confusion is that it seems to be a political statement about what the USSF should be. The clarity we want from an in-person meeting is that if they want something longer and more detailed, that's fine and let's decide that together. This can be a way to model how to get through things efficiently and with depth.
Oya: It would be good to simplify and clarify that it's not a political document.
Walda: Part of it is that it's a lot to work with. Part of it is that the political culture of the US is different and C are more uncommon here.
Jerome: At the NPC, we need to model the C process and clarify the goals.
Rishi: Him, Alicia, and Raquel (maybe) will attend the NPC.
Raquel: Purpose of C is to 1) get feedback from folks, 2) apply C to the tracks, and 3) how to struggle and move along in an efficient way.
Jerome: Clarify how the C fits into the convergence dynamic and movement building aspect of USSF.
Walda: And how to clarify and coordinate with DLOC.
2. Program Subgroup Update - Walda (I spaced on this! Sorry!)
Walda:Will have draft of overall call for submissions to accompany online forms and of daily schedule for next full Program & Culture call Oct. 19. Program subgroup call next Monday, October 12.
3. Culture Subgroup Update
Oya: In order to submit to workshop, people had to be register with USSF. Culture Committee/WG feels that artists should not ahve to register. Working on Artist Application, Logistics
4. DLOC Update
Oya: Reggie sent out C process and notes. Oya will meet with folks tomorrow and explain C process more. Cobo Hall is available the day before the USSF begins - will raise possibilitie for this at the NPC.
5. Opening Ceremony
Oya: What role do we play in the Opening ceremony? Is that a Program or NPC issue?
