Registration Process
From USSF 2010 Wiki
|
Registration fees
based on a sliding scale, in 2007 (conference dates: June 27-July 1):
- Organization: early registration $125-$300 (with 3 attendees); after May 1st late registration $150-$350
- University/Business (per 3 attendees): early registration $500; late registration $600
- Individual: early registration $15-$100; after May 1st late registration $20-$125
- Foundations: Please contact the USSF office for registration information
Events
Assuming that the registration site will also show the plenaries, give some idea re workshops and other forum events (opening March, People’s Assembly, etc.) Also need to figure out how to have a tab for events connected to the forum, but happening on the Monday before, or early in the day on Tuesday, before the march. This might include city tours, visiting and working for half a day/full day at urban gardens or a clean-up or building a local organization/organizations plan.
General Information
- Registration for USSF: on front page need a general statement re 2010USSF, including dates, location.
- If possible would be important to have a section that says: What you can do to build the forum:
- ask your organization to endorse,
- organize your organization and your community to participate in the forum,
- donate bikes (with link to explanation and more info about why/how),
- have a check-off box if would like to sign up to receive flyers.
Volunteers
- Need to have motivation about why it is important to volunteer. We need hundreds of volunteers.
- Check box for volunteering
Translators
- Should have a special box to check (or link) if can translate:
- sign language,
- Spanish
- Arabic
- What other languages should be included by default?
Section for Organizations
- info (name, address, phone number(s), email address, other info), enter payment,
- indicate discount for registering members of organization (give discount in order to encourage organizations to build),
- Number of individual registrations (say for 10 members, but don’t need names only UAW#1, UAW#2….UAW#10—names can be entered as late as the forum itself—this form should be the same basic form as for individuals, but linked to organization).
Scholarship or Solidarity fund assistance
Need to have check-off box for:
- would like to endorse (or sponsor)
- Helping Hand Fund, to sponsor low income/student/unemployed attendee.
- Organization is willing to organize volunteers for USSF.
- See more specific ideas and recommendations on Scholarship-Solidarity Funds
Regarding payment
- should be able to have spaces to indicate sponsorship amount + donation amount = total.
Supporting the Forum
- Would also be good if there was space for organizations to indicate what they can do to build the forum within their organization or geographical area, with space to type in.
- Additionally, need a space to answer the question: Can your organization offer in-kind services in Detroit?
Section for Individuals
- info (name, city/state/zip/country, phone number for home/cell, email address, organization,
- willing to volunteer
- other info such as do you need translation/what language
- do you have special needs—space to indicate what they are).
- Have box to check off if can donate to Helping Hand Fund.
- Need space to add registration amount + donation = total and enter payment (depending on system we use, need to indicate amount paid, date of payment, payment type, payment ID).
- Would be good to have space asking how heard about forum.
- Also need a box to indicate received packet (on site).
Workshop Proposals
- Explain how to apply for workshop proposals, with link to guidelines and where/how to submit with deadline.
- This could be a check box Do you plan to present a workshop?
- Or we could ask for a short workshop proposal.
Need tabs for following categories
Housing Options
- Need links to various hotels, motels, dorm rooms, youth encampment, mass housing or interested in solidarity housing at $10 a night.
- For those who will book hotel or motel, we would really stress finding roommates to share the room. However, we may have to locate roommates for some.
Transportation to/from Detroit
- Important to give information for people coming by bus, train, plane, car and chartered bus.
- Will need to add parking information.
- Should include any info about discounts we have, or booking early.
Transportation during the USSF
- Need to have info about getting in from the airport, public transportation and discounted ticket, cabs, and any info about vans we will organize.
Bikes at the USSF
- Outline policy of having bikes available as transportation.
Child Care Registration
- Encourage early registration for children, with name, age of child and any special issues. (Will be on-site registration as well, but this will give us an idea.)
Other Events
- We will need to construct a list of events happening in Detroit, such as River Days and fireworks.
Places to Eat
- Outline Food Court or other areas in Hart Plaza (free food, ethnic foods), eating in Cobo, Youth Encampment food, also have short list of restaurants in downtown Detroit.
[NOTE: See “A Guide to the USSF Registration Process,” from 2007.]
Email Blasts
- Would be important to have email blasts to go to everyone registered once a month with updates.
- Last two blasts should remind registrants to bring water bottles, and to register children coming for child care.
